• Lyricist Sameer (officially known as Shitala Pandey) honoured with National Kishore Kumar Award for 2012-13

• India signed the Minamata Convention on Mercury. The convention is named after Japanese City Minamata that has become synonymous with the deadly Mercury contamination since 1950. The convention gives 5 years time to India to control and reduce emissions from new power plants and 10 years time for the existing power plants.

• India to host first leg of Asia cup Archery Tournament in Delhi in Jan 2015. Asia Cup will replace Asian GP. Second and third legs will be held at Bangkok and Tehran.

• French economist Jean Tirole won the Nobel Prize for Economics.
